Jason is a vegetarian fly fisherman from Vancouver Island that loves nothing more than getting into the quiet areas of the wild. He searches for places where his company consists of the loons, beavers, bears, elk, wolves, and trout.
Ten years ago, my brother dragged me to a Kootenay lake that held fat rainbow trout, feasting on a hatch. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer.
My favorite fishing memory is catching my first summer-run Steelhead. After driving for four hours away from Victoria, I arrived at an island river that was rumored to have summer-run Steelhead. I hiked down to the river and saw a lurking fish. My second cast brought the newly tied Royal Coachman within a couple of feet of the beast. I didn’t know the proper casting technique, nor was the Royal Coachman an appropriate fly for the beauty. Yet, I landed an 8-10lb Steelhead at the toe of a ripple!
I enjoy the many friends and family that surround me in Victoria. Also, there are many beautiful, rugged, and natural areas that allow you to immerse yourself in nature.
